Burrick: A Bold Display Font for Campaigns

As a marketing designer, I often find myself in the middle of a campaign workflow where the right font can make or break the visual impact. Recently, I was tasked with creating a promotional graphic for a seasonal sale. The goal was to grab attention quickly across social media and digital ads. That’s when I reached for Burrick—a brushed display font that brought the energy and authenticity I needed.

Burrick has a raw, handcrafted feel that feels both modern and timeless. Its brush strokes give it a sense of movement and personality, making it ideal for branding and eye-catching visuals. It doesn’t just sit on the page; it commands attention. Whether used in a bold headline or as a decorative element, Burrick adds character without overwhelming the design.

Real-World Application in Social Media Graphics

One of the first places I tested Burrick was in an Instagram post for a product teaser. The font’s strong presence worked well against a dark background, standing out without needing extra effects. On mobile screens, where most users engage with content, Burrick maintained clarity and legibility, even at smaller sizes. It wasn’t too ornate to distract from the message, but it had enough detail to feel unique.

For YouTube thumbnails, I paired Burrick with a simple sans serif for the subtitle. The contrast helped guide the viewer’s eye while keeping the overall look clean. The font’s weight and texture made the thumbnail more memorable, which is crucial in a fast-scrolling feed. It felt like the perfect balance between creativity and professionalism.

Using Burrick in Promotional Visuals

When designing a webinar banner, I wanted something that would catch attention but still feel trustworthy. Burrick’s brushed style gave the design a confident, approachable vibe. I used it for the main title and then paired it with a clean serif font for the details. The result was a layout that felt dynamic yet cohesive.

For a quote graphic, I let Burrick take center stage. The font’s natural flow complemented the message, adding an emotional layer to the text. It worked especially well with short phrases, where its visual rhythm could enhance the tone of the message. Whether it was a motivational quote or a brand tagline, Burrick added a personal touch that felt authentic.

Best Practices for Readability and Design

While Burrick excels in headlines and display text, it’s not the best choice for long paragraphs or dense information. Its expressive style works best when used sparingly, allowing it to shine without compromising readability. In digital ads, I kept the text short and focused, using Burrick for key messaging rather than full copy.

On dark backgrounds, Burrick’s contrast was strong, but I found that adjusting the spacing helped improve legibility. For light backgrounds, the font still held up well, though I avoided using it in very small sizes. When working with thumbnails or image overlays, I made sure the font had enough padding to avoid looking cramped.

Pairing Burrick with Other Fonts

Font pairing is essential for maintaining visual balance. I often pair Burrick with a clean sans serif like Montserrat or Open Sans for body text. This creates a nice contrast between the decorative elements and the supporting typography. For a more elegant look, I’ve also used a serif font like Playfair Display alongside Burrick, which gives the design a refined yet dynamic feel.

In some cases, I’ve combined it with a script font for a handwritten effect, but I was careful not to overdo it. The key is to let Burrick be the focal point without competing with other styles. It works best when used as a highlight or accent, not as the primary typeface in a layout.

Considering Commercial Use and File Formats

Before finalizing any campaign, I always check the font’s licensing and file formats. Burrick comes in multiple weights and includes alternates and ligatures, which are useful for customizing the look. It supports a wide range of languages, making it versatile for international campaigns.

For digital ads and templates, I made sure to use the correct file format—usually OTF or TTF. These formats ensure compatibility across different platforms and design software. If I were using Burrick for merchandise or client projects, I’d double-check the commercial license to avoid any issues down the line.

Whether I’m working on a seasonal sale, a webinar banner, or a branded template pack, Burrick consistently delivers a strong visual identity. It’s a premium font that brings energy and authenticity to any campaign, making it a valuable addition to any designer’s toolkit.
